Catherine remarried before July 18 1738 to James Timothy VanZantranpelt (Various spellings). On this date admistration papers were approved by the court in Goochland Co. VA regarding the Will of Timothy Rich.
The children were named in the court papers, including the fact that Catherine was pregnant with David at the time of Timothy's decease.

2. Jeremiah Parker RICH, born abt 1736 in Goochland Co. VA.; deceased 17 Jan 1781 Wake Co. NC. He married abt 1757 Mary "Polly" HUNTER, born abt. 1737 in Louisa Co. VA; deceased 28 Dec 1785 in Wake Co NC, daughter of Andrew and Jane Hunter.

1.Jesse, born 24 Nov 1758 Goochland Co VA.
2.Judith, born 02 Jan 1761 Goochland Co VA. She married William DODD.
3.William "Billy", born abt 1759 - 1762,VA. Census in 1810 gives age as "over 45".
4.John, first child named in the will of Jeremiah, possibly the eldest.

5.Susannah, She married James BRIDGES.
6. Jacob, believed to have migrated to KY.

3. William "Billy" RICH, born bet. 1759 and 1762 ?, VA;deceased 1832 in Jackson (later Clay) Co. TN. He married Mary Ellen "Polly" HOOKER, born abt. 1760 in NC; deceased abt. 1829 in Jackson (later Clay) Co. TN. William is found on the 1810 census for Cumberland Co KY and on the 1820 and 1830 census in Jackson Co TN.

Notes for Mary Ellen " Polly" Hooker
Polly Hooker was supposedly full- blood Cherokee. Her grandson, George W. Skipworth, submitted his application for the Eastern Cherokee in 1906 based on his knowledge of this. There are several applications in the files for descendants claiming on the Cherokee blood of Polly Rich. All were rejected for her family not being party to any early treaties or found on any of the early rolls, but that does not mean that the claims were false, only that there was no written proof.

2.Jeremiah, b. abt 1784 NC;living next door to Jesse in the 1810 Cumberland Co census. Need proof that this is the same man who married Sidney LOWERY and removed to Hamilton Co. IL before 1840. A Cherokee application filed in 1908 by their great-granddaughter, Annie Bell Culbertson states that Sidney was also of Cherokee blood.

3. Obediah, living next door to William in 1810 census. Land grant in Warren Co. KY dated 1830.
Believed to have removed to Franklin Co IL, and to
have served in the Black Hawk War in 1843.

4.John,settled in Moss, TN; there are several KY land grants for Jno. Rich in Jackson Co TN on Proctor's Creek. He married (1)Virginia PEAKE. He married (2) Rachel PIPKINS.

5. Robert, found on 1810 census Cumberland Co KY, he owned land on McFarland Crk and his household on the census is between Abraham and Henry "Hastings" (Hestand) Could he have married a Hestand ?

6. William Jr - looking for more information at this time. He is on a list of names from early tax lists for Jackson Co TN that was found a few years ago in the basement of the TSLA for the years prior to 1811,as was his father. He is listed in the 1830 census in Overton Co TN. Then in 1850 Jackson Co IL, there is a William Rich, 62, b.NC and wife Nancy. In between William's household and that of Sarah Skipworth, widow of Richard, were James Rich,25, b.TN, and Silas Rich,24, b. KY, believed to be William's sons. There may also have been a son named Obediah who married Charity MYERS in Jackson Co IL in 1843. There are several associations between the MYERS family and both the Skipworths and Rich's in IL. Two houses down, living in the household of John Woolsey, was the family of Abraham HESTAND,48,b. KY. There were several Abraham Hestands and I do not know yet who this one was. In 1840, there was an "Abrom Hestin" living near Jeremiah Rich in Hamilton Co IL, likely the same man,but he is too young to be the same Abraham who lived near Robert Rich in 1810 Cumberland Co. In the next house is an Elijah Hestand and his wife,Pelinia (Perlina) FURLOW. In William Rich's household are two children named Furlow. His associations with the Skipworths and Hestands leads me to believe this man may be William Rich JR.

7. Warren Rich - found on early tax lists living on McFarlin Creek in Cumberland/Monroe Co KY. A deed on William Sr's land on McFarlin Crk in 1814 includes the line "to a stake in Warren Riches yard". He removed to Hamilton Co. IL before 1840. He married (1) Ann ? He married (2) Sarah Parsons PRINCE,b. Christian Co KY.

8. Joel Rich - found on early tax lists in Cumberland Co KY with land on McFarlin Crk. There were apparently two, as men by this name found on the 1840 census in both Warren and Barren Co KY. It is possible that both men named Joel were related to our line. But more research is needed to identify the second one.

4. Jessee RICH, born 13 Sep 1782 in Goochland Co VA; deceased 22 May 1860 in Clay Co. TN. He married Elizabeth SAVAGE, born 15 Jun 1783 in NC; deceased 10 May 1866 in Clay Co. TN, daughter of Levin (Sr) and Sarah Elizabeth Martin Savage.

Both Jessee and his wife Elizabeth are buried in the McDonald Cemetery at Baptist Ridge in Clay Co. TN.
